So I’ve been having a hard time remembering (or having the time to) update my blog. Which is unfortunate since this summer I am actually doing cool things to update about!
Now for a little backtracking . . . they’ve been telling us since we got here that our building is the building for animals. There is an alligator that lives in the river, skunks, and snakes that get into the building. Luckily, I haven’t seen any of that. Last week I finally saw my first animal (well, first 5)!
Look at what were waiting for me when I got to work! The cute babies were prancing around for quite a while so I was a little late going in that day . . .
In other news, last week we had a little break from our usual routines and went to work at the UHCL Archives. They work in conjunction with Space Center archives, so we got to help out with some projects there. My project for the week was working with photos from the Space New Roundup, which is the center’s official newspaper. It was quite hilarious to see the outfits that the women (and men) were wearing in the 60’s and 70’s.
We also got to go take a tour of the photo lab and go into the 0 degree vault where they keep all the film that has been on the moon. In case anyone is wondering about any picture doctoring that might be done at NASA, there isn’t any! They are not allowed to retouch ANYTHING just for fear that people will accuse them of adding things or something like that. Even film that got “moon dust” in it they were not allowed to doctor out the specs of dust that appeared when the film was developed.
Well, that’s it for now! 10 weeks goes by fast! I have only 2 weeks left after this week!
