“It is one of the blessings of old friends that you can afford to be stupid with them.” ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

This week I got to go to Ohio/Kentucky to reunite with some of my best friends from BYUH. I found this super old picture of the 3 of us back in our Hale 3 days, hiking Manoa Falls:

Us Girls Hiking (1)

Jamie (yellow hat), her husband, and her her two little boys are living in Kentucky, so Julie and I flew in to spend a couple of days with them. This was the first time all 3 of us have been together since 2007!

They live in Florence, Kentucky (where the Cincinnati airport is) and we were greeted by this lovely sight as we drove in:

Our first day we went to Big Bone Lick State Park in Kentucky and had a (short) hike and a picnic. Kentucky is not what I was picturing at all! It’s really pretty and green and hilly.

We also got to check out Jamie’s new house! It is going to be amazing when they are through with it (it already is pretty amazing) and it has the nicest backyard! I know my dad would be super jealous of their huge trees.

It’s also the first house I’ve ever seen with a purple bathtub! I need one.

Jamie’s husband was awesome enough to take a day off of work to stay home with the kids, so our second day us girls went through Cincinnati (Nice place! Also not what I was picturing!) and spent most of the day at a water park called The Beach, and then did some shopping. It was kind of funny because while we were shopping a sales girl asked where we got the sun (somehow both Jamie and Julie ended up sunburnt and I don’t think I even got a tan!) and when we said The Beach she thought we meant a real beach. =)

We ended the day at Skyline Chili. Apparently it is a quite famous chain in the area. Before I left my boss told me if I was going to Ohio I had to eat there. We weren’t that into chili, so we tested it out with some chili cheese fries. Pretty good!

Our last day was spent with a little Harry Potter celebration. We watched Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and made some butterbeer. It actually tasted almost exactly like the butterbeer from Harry Potter World! I’m glad we decided not to completely follow the recipe we found on Mugglenet, because it called for actual butter, and I don’t think drinking butter is the healthiest thing a person can do. Haha.

We were sad to leave, especially these cute kids! Hopefully now Ian at least will be able to remember who we are. I kind of doubt Jacob is old enough to, but I guess that just means we’ll have to visit again!

As much as I don’t really want to live in Utah, I might have to at least stick around the western United States since it seems most likely if we’re ever going to live near each other again it will be because we’ve moved near family in Utah or Idaho. But, it will be worth it so that we can get together more often!

**Also, Katie, I just know you’re about to make a comment about how I need to visit you in Colorado, so just keep praying I end up with a job there, or at least have to go for a job interview (I just applied for a job in Loveland today!)** =)
