“I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death.” ~ Severus Snape

Fifteen years ago today, a little black-haired boy with glasses and a scar made his way into our lives.

It seems as though a substantial amount of my blog posts are dedicated to Harry Potter; however, on this anniversary of the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone I couldn’t resist!

Earlier today I mentioned to Spencer that I planned to spend my evening re-reading Philosopher’s Stone to commemorate this anniversary. This led him to ask me a question that had me laughing hysterically, had I read it “more than three times”? I really wish I had kept track of each and every time I read this book (or any of the Harry Potter books). I don’t want to admit how high my estimate is, but I will say it is a lot more than three.

After thinking about just how much of my life I’ve spent reading Harry Potter books, I realized that Harry Potter is my comfort food. Instead of reaching for ice cream or chocolate in times of need I reach for a Harry Potter book.

So, Happy 15th Birthday Harry! I’m so glad you’ve been around to hang out with over the years!

[side note: Harry’s “actual” birthday is July 31st and he’ll be 26] Winking smile

15 years?! Wow, I feel old. I still remember when the first book came out and I borrowed it from the school library. It doesn't feel like that long ago.
